Welcome November

My very favorite month of the year has come to a close. November is my second favorite, but it’s still always hard to see October, with all it’s Halloweeniness, go. Halloween this year was nice though. We carved some great pumpkins, and as usually Dave’s takes the cake – who doesn’t love baby Yoda?? And despite all his whining to the contrary, Eli’s clone trooper came out great! I wasn’t nearly as ambitious as the two of them, but my scarecrow was cute too.

Dave ended up escorting about 20 kids around the neighborhood for trick or treating. Originally there were apparently some other parents, but they bailed. Some might say that at 12 years old Eli is old enough to go out on his own with such a large group, but I’m not there yet. And it was actually quite a beautiful night and Dave enjoyed himself, so it all worked out. I stayed home to pass out candy. But as mentioned, the weather was quite nice, so instead of waiting inside for the knocking, I took up witchy-residence on the porch! It was a great night. 🎃

So November it is now. We ushered it in with a little grown-up time. We originally had some plans to hang out with multiple friends at our neighbor’s house, but those plans fell through. So we called an audible and went out for dinner and drinks instead. I can’t tell you when was the last time I left the house to START the night at like 7:00. It was like being a full fledged adult, lol. I even put on makeup!

We had a great dinner and drinks down in Fells Point, and then wrapped up the night with some fireside drinks at the ever-so-fancy “outdoor” lounge at the Sagamore Pendry hotel. I think those drinks cost more than our dinner, lol. And going out for after-dinner drinks in the first place? I don’t think we ever even did that when we were young, let alone now that we’re old, lol. We didn’t get home until almost midnight – crazy, right? A fun night was had by all.

Now it’s a countdown until Dave and I go away together for our anniversary. I can’t actually remember the last time we went away without Eli. Definitely pre-covid, so it’s been awhile, and we’re really excited. He’ll be home with a good friend of ours gorging on junk food, watching movies, and playing video games while we relax in our beautiful B&B. Perfect for everyone!

And lastly, now that it is November, it’s time to start thinking about holiday shopping. And you know what makes great inexpensive gifts? Books! Humorous and heartfelt books – even better! Head on over to Amazon or B&N online and pick up copies of my book for everyone on your shopping list! To make the gift even more special and personal I’m happy to send you signed bookplates you can place inside the book. A perfect gift! 🎁
